I can’t let #DisabilityPrideMonth pass without posting one of my all time favorite disability reads: ONE FOR ALL by Lillie Lainoff!
ONE FOR ALL is the first traditionally published novel about a character with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) written by an author with POTS (and, if you listen to the audiobook, also narrated by a actor with POTS)!
It’s a gender bent, young adult THREE MUSKETEERS retelling with plenty of action and adventure. I haven’t shared the UK edition before but look how gorgeous it is! (I think this might be my favorite edition…)
Even though I don’t have POTS, I really related to our main character and adored seeing her kick ass while also experiencing realistic chronic illness. It combines so many of my special interests (classic retellings, sword-fighting, and chronic illness rep) that I feel like Lillie Lainoff wrote it juuuuuust for me.
I had the honor of interviewing Lillie several years ago and it was such a delight. I’m waiting on pins and needles to discover what she’s working on next. Fingers crossed we get another book announcement ASAP!
ONE FOR ALL will always hold a special place in my heart and I need everyone to read it too!
P.S. If you’d like to join in the Disability Pride Month celebrations, the #ChronicallyIconicBookClub is reading IT’S ALL IN YOUR HEAD by Sabina Nordqvist, an adult romance with POTS, chronic pain, and idiopathic intracranial hypertension representation based on the author’s personal experience. Please let me know if you’d like to join our group chat to discuss it August 1-3rd.
